The calendar says spring is here but I haven’t seen many signs until today. The daffodils are coming up, the lilac tree has buds, and I saw a few yellow petals peeking out of the forsythia today. So now I am thinking of spring. I can’t wait for it to be in full bloom!

One of my favorite places in spring is Asticou Azalea Garden, in Northeast Harbor, Maine. It is generally at it’s peak the end of May or beginning of June. The spring green colors of Acadia are also amazing that time of year. They are almost as varied as the fall foliage. Tip: To fully enjoy the spring foliage make sure you bring the bug spray. It is too beautiful to let those pesky black flies keep you indoors! I am eagerly awaiting the burst of color and my first hike in the springtime air!

The Somesville Bridge in Somesville Maine on Mt Desert Island
Last winter my schedule and the snowstorms coincided nicely. I got to spend lots of time out taking photos of Mount Desert Island, Acadia National Park, and Bar Harbor Maine. It seemed to snow a little every night so each morning the landscape was fresh and white, and calling me outside to photograph more. This winter I have spent more time inside, at my computer, and teaching, and in my studio. And among other things starting this blog. So, welcome! I plan to add content on a regular basis. I hope you’ll come back soon!
